A Recreation for Life Walk/Run is a fun event. It is sometimes referred to as a community Walk/Run, or a Mayor’s Walk/Run. Ideally, it comprises of a 2.5 km walk and a 5 km run, staged in any municipality in Alberta. Adults, children and youth, regardless of their level of fitness, are all encouraged to participate.

The Walk/Run is designed to allow a municipality to publicly demonstrate its commitment to the promotion of recreation, fitness and healthy lifestyle choices in the community. By hosting such an event, the municipality demonstrates its desire to work with recreation sector and local charitable organizations to help them achieve their financial goals. A Walk/Run is usually organized on behalf of a municipality by the local Recreation Department and/or a community organization in conjunction with the Recreation for Life Foundation.
